Shopping in Chennai- Kumaran Silks, T. Nagar- Review

So i thought I will start this feature with review of my favorite store for dresses and silk sarees. Yes I love Salwars and Sarees a lot. I try to get something new every two months. Whenever I decide to purchase this is the place I end up. It is Kumaran Silks, Chennai. People staying in Chennai may know this but it is not popular as Nalli.


Kumaran Silks has been a family shop for us. We have been purchasing from this shop for more than 30 or 40 years now. Yes this is place of purchase from the time it was started. My grandma, my mom and now me. I prefer shopping here than any other place.

My Thoughts Floor Wise:

Ground Floor- Section A

Cotton Sarees, Fancy Sarees, Furnishing Materials

My Thoughts: This floor is where you can get all type of Regular sarees. I love this section. You can find a saree for every budget. Saress range start as low as 100 rs. Love the variety. This is only place I prefer for purchasing cotton sarees. Their variety is awesome. Do check out their silk cotton collection. They have an awesome range. I have many sarees from this range. You can find silk cotton from Rs.700. If you want cheap desingner sarees this is the place to get it. You can even find a embroided saree for around just Rs.300.

Ground Floor- Section B

Kumaran Park Street- Readywear for children

My Thoughts: This is not only for children you can get ready made for women also. They also have night wear. I personally don't like shopping for my son here. I am very picky when it comes to my son's clothes. Can try out nightwear, leggings and salwars. 

Ground Floor- Section C

Men's Collection

My Thoughts: They do not have a wide collection. Definite No No for young people. Nothing much to tell about this section. Can purchase shirt and pant materials for stitching.

First Floor

Silk Sarees, Material and Dhoties

My Thoughts: Love this floor. Love the variety of silk sarees they have. This place has silk sarees for all occasions. I got my engagement saree, baby shower saree and few other sarees here. Love it. I prefer these sarees than what I got from Kancheepuram for my wedding. I dint find variety in Kancheepuram. This floor is for people who want to get silk sarees on a budget. Prices are lesser than Nalli in my opinion.

First Floor-Extension

All Kind of Dress Material, blouse materials, lining materials.

My Thoughts: I am a slawar person and love to get salwar materials from here. You can get saree blouses perfectly from here. People here are very well experienced and can get you the blouse color you need. Huge variety of materials.

Second Floor

Choice in silk, other choices, Silk material, gents wear, salwar set

Second Floor- Extension

Sarees, Special Launches.

My Thoughts: This floor also has variety of products

Customer Service: I love the service here. Most of the SA are men and are working in this showroom for many years. They have good knowledge about the products and wont mind if you ask them to show you hundreds of sarees. 

Price: Affordoable in my opinion.

Offers: They do not provide any offers as far as I know.

Best Place for: Cotton Sarees, Fancy Sarees, Silk Sarees, Silk Cotton Sarees and Salwar Materials.

Best Time to Shop: All Days. This showroom is huge and you will find people coming and going. This shop is not very crowded which I like.

Parking Facility:  Yes for Cars.

Branches: No

Maybelline Colorama Nail Color- Silver Plum-Review and NOTD

When it comes to nail paints I prefer only Lakme. I dont know the reason why? Maybe that is because of my mum. She prefer Lakme when it comes to cosmetic stuff. When I go shopping I do not look for nail paints from other companies it has been always Lakme for me. Then I got introduced to other companies like Streetwear, Diana of London by my realtives abroad. Now thanks to all the beauty blogs I have come to know about so many brands. I must say I am learning so much from the world of blogging. That is how I came to know about Maybelline Nail Paints. These paints costs less than Lakme. I got the shade Silver Plum. This is my first Maybelline nail paint.

The shade is a beautiful pink with light shimmers. Love this shade. Think will suit most skin tones. It is quite sheer. You can get the color only with atleast three coats. Love the applicator of this nail point. Application is smooth and does not streak. Even coats every time.

It stays on nail for atleast four to five days without chipping. The shine is also long lasting. I am saying this because I do not use Top coats that often. Totally loving this nail paint and surely getting some more shades.

Online Shopping Experience- Urbantouch.com

Here is the review on urbantouch as said earlier. I do not prefer online shopping as it does not give the pleasure of going out and checking the products. At the same time I am also concerned about online shopping because of its payment methods. After I saw some good reviews on Urbantouch I couldn't resist myself from shopping from them. They have free shipping and COD. I have purchased from urbantouch twice now. I must say I am pretty impressed with the service provided. I got myself a facial kit in the first order. I made an order on Friday, 5th August and I got a mail stating they have shipped the product the same day itself. I received the product on Monday. They called me twice to confirm to know I will be home or not. This is very useful so you will not have to worry about waiting for your order to arrive. The package for safe and secure. No damage. Loved their packaging. Very useful outer box to store other items.

I made my second order just for the sake of getting an eyeliner :p So I ordered a lipstick along with it. I made my order on 10th august and got the product on 16th August. I am guessing they take two to three days to deliver the products. Since they do not work on weekends and Monday was a holiday I got my products on Tuesday. This time also they confirmed my order by calling me and sent the package. This time also packing was very neat and secure. Both products were neatly bubble wrapped for safe delivery. So the final verdict is I am quite satisfied with their service.

Another con for me is I received msg stating that I will receive the products on this day after half day of receiving the products on hand. I find it funny and useless to message after delivering the products. This message is sent by the courier people.
Other than this I do not have any problems.

I would definitely make more purchases.

Hi beauties,

How are you all. Hope all are doing good. I have been busy lately and my litlle one completeled two years on sunday. I am so happy, lots more functions and parties are lined up this month. So I will not be able to post regularly for some time. Also I wanted to share about the new feature I am planning to start in my blog for some time now.

It is called Shopping in Chennai. The main reason of starting this blog was to share my shopping experiences. In this space i will give my reviews on stores I have purchased, what products they have the best, customer service, etc.

The reason for starting is that I cannot find many reviews about the Stores present in Chennai on internet. This space will help people visiting Chennai and people living in Chennai to find good places to buy stuff. Hope this space will help people a lot to know about shopping in Chennai.

Hope my fellow blogging beauties will support in this and provide suggesstions on improving this feature.
