Just Herbs 8-in-1 Root Nourishing Amla Neem Shampoo Review

Hi Beauties,

Just Herbs is a new company that has brought in some wonderful products. The packaging is so truly tempting. Ok, let me come to the story why I bought it. I have super dry, frizzy and wavy hair. Taming my hair is not easy. But this problem came after my pregrancy. Though my hair is wavy it was all shiny and manageable to an extent before. I was using only Meera shikai shampoo early and loved the results. But after pregnancy everything changed :( My hair became so dry that none of the commercial shampoos worked. Then I tried fabindia aloevera shampoo and it was ok. Then all these shampoos had SLS which made my scalp itchy and further more dry. Then TBS rainforest range came to my rescue. I love it. It is free from SLS and parabens.

Then it is not surprising for a person like me to try out other stuffs right. So I wanted to find out if there are any other affordable mild shampoos free from SLS and parabens. That is how i ended up buying Just herbs Just Herbs 8-in-1 Root Nourishing Amla Neem Shampoo. I was so happy that they had a 100 ml pack. Great way to try something new without hurting your pocket right??

What the company says?? (From urbantouch.com)

Root nourishing shampoo specially for dry hair to provide strength and nourishment. Synergistically formulated shampoo to penetrate the hair shaft, strengthen the roots and nourish the scalp, while effectively cleansing the hair without stripping off its natural oils. It is a great combination of eight herbs - Amla, Hibiscus, Heena, Tigonella Seed, Neem, Vetiver, Wheatgerm Oil and Soy Lecithin. Indian gooseberry (Amla), for centuries, has been known to be effective for growth of healthy black hair, while wheatgerm oil acts as an antioxidant, soy lecithin softens and repairs damaged hair thus reducing the dryness and brittleness associated with lack of nutrients necessary for a healthy hair growth. Hibiscus naturally darkens hair colour and prevents premature greying, while neem and methi seed extracts deeply nourish and condition the hair roots thus controlling excessive hair fall.
My thoughts:
The first thing I loved about this shampoo is the packaging. Loved the gorgeous transperant bottle with a golden cap. I think it makes it look royal. How the name is printed on the bottle. Like it is from olden times. Loved everything about the bottle.

Pretty packaging :)

The smell is so amazing. Very herbal and I can definitely smell neem in it. The Shampoo is not too runny or not too thick. I usually have the habit of trying out the shampoos in different ways to know how it works. First time I use just the shampoo and skip conditioner, next mix shampoo with water and finally use shampoo along with a conditioner. I must say this shampoo actually made my hair soft and manageable in all the methods. With a conditioner I was able to control my frizz. It cleaned well. But you will need plenty of shampoo at one go. If I had applied oil, then I need to use double the amount. As you can see I have used half of the bottle. This is about 5 to 6 washes I think. So I am guessing a 100ml bottle will come for around 10 washes. Anyway I have really dense hair so I need much more than the needed amount. If you have fine hair or normal thickness it will last for some more time.

Ingredients

So, the website says their products are paraben free. So it scores on this area. But I have a doubt whether it is SLS free. Because it is not mentioned anywhere in the bottle. And one more thing is that in the ingredients list Cleansing base is mentioned. I have no idea what they have included in cleansing base. So not sure it is completely SLS free. Then it has greatly helped me relieve from dry and itchy scalp. This was due to organic surge shampoo. I dont face dandruff so I can't comment on whether it will work on it. But I did not stop my hairfall :(

Another concern for me is that that the bottle is open mouthed. We wont be able to control the amount of shampoo if you are not careful. I would have liked if they had provided a small plastic opening like other bottles. And one more thing is I would have loved a flip cap. Unscrewing and screwing the cap back is too much work while in bath. And for a person like me who has butter hands, this is something I need to be careful about :P

I think many will find it expenisve. Then most products in the herbal and organic range are priced on the higher side. I think this shampoo will be great for people who want a mild everyday shampoo. If you don't have any issues with your hair go for this. You will love it.

Pros:
Super awesome packaging
Mild herbal smell
Cleans effectively
Leaves hair soft and manageable
Helped in releiving me from dry and itchy scalp
Mild shampoo for people who shampoo everyday
Paraben free :D
Available in 100ml and 200ml packs

Cons:
Wide mouthed bottle. Need to be very careful in getting the shampoo out.
Need to use more amount than any regular shampoo
Expensive
Full ingredient list missing. I want to know what is there in cleansing base.
No clue if this shampoo is SLS free.
Did not help me in hairfall.
Availabilty. I got it from urbantouch.com. I have not seen it anywhere else.

Overall a good and mild shampoo that makes my hair soft and manageable :D

Price: Rs.225 for 100 ml. I got it for Rs.205 from urbantouch.com
Shelf Life: 2 years from the Date of Manufacture

Recommendation: Yes. If you don't mind the price and want a mild everyday shampoo go for it. I think you will love it. I suggest using a conditioner to tame frizz.

Repurchase: Yes. I will get this again for winters when my hair and scalp become super dry and itchy. I also want to try their Just Herbs Silky Strength Aloevera-Wheatgerm Moisturising Shampoo next :D

So what do you think of this shampoo? Will you get it??
